Community Insights
Cloudflare’s startup program is generous (now up to $350k, raised from $250k) and developer-first. Founders who go “Cloudflare-first” (Workers, R2, D1, Durable Objects) report big savings versus AWS/Azure, with R2’s zero-egress the most-cited feature. Caveats: support is hard to reach as a human (community-forum-driven), it is less battle-tested at very large scale (D1 limits bite), and a global outage in Nov 2025 is a reminder that consolidating everything on one vendor carries cascading-failure risk. Note the credits have sub-caps (R2 $10k, Workers AI $50k).
Best Practices (from community tips)
- Build Cloudflare-first, fall back only for what it lacks (heavy GPU/training). Map credits to your most expensive services (Workers, R2, Queues, Durable Objects).
- Lean on R2’s zero-egress for bandwidth-heavy apps, but mind the R2/Cache $10k and Workers AI $50k credit sub-caps.
- Plan for self-serve support. Solve via docs/community/Discord; do not count on a live agent in an emergency.
- Apply early (the base ~$10k tier is self-serve, no VC needed); higher tiers need an approved VC/accelerator.
