ArcFace is a way of training the model so photos of the same product land close together and different products land far apart. That is what makes the fingerprints reliable for matching. It started in face recognition, where the same idea separates one person from another.
For engineers: an additive angular-margin loss for metric learning, applied on L2-normalized embeddings.
